CORPORATE DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

REPORTS TO: President and CEO

JOB PURPOSE:     

This position is responsible for all aspects of the corporation’s structural engineering, quality and laboratory R&D functions including, but not limited to, quality assurance, product testing, lamina evaluation and structural design.  The Corporate Director of Engineering will be a progressive, positive and innovative leader charged with developing the engineering functions as cohesive, productive teams.          

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as key executive of the management team, aiding in the development of corporate strategy and implementation of plans
  • Develops and recommends short and long term departmental goals and objectives to ensure overall corporate growth and profitability
  • Plans and directs corporate technical activities to maximize contribution to attainment of corporate objectives, profitability and growth
  • Interacts with all customer levels to develop excellent relations, provide superior service, develop creative solutions to problems and extract and evaluate potential business opportunities
  • Establishes product design criteria that result in safe, cost effective products designed to meet in-house manufacturing processes
  • Develops budgets and operates department accordingly
  • Engages support departments to assure objectives are met
  • Develops and maintains a sound, effective and adaptable organization structure
  • Selects, develops, and motivates a competent engineering staff and plans for advancement and succession
  • Serves as a product champion
  • Initiates corrective action as necessary to ensure an effective operation
  • Develops and maintains expertise in composites product design, manufacturing and structural  application
  • Establishes engineering design policies
  • Directs, coordinates and appraises the development and manufacture of new products.
  • Assists marketing, sales and process engineering departments with product design, development and manufacture
  • Productively manages interfaces among functions of responsibility, as well as with sales, marketing and manufacturing
  • Maintains an innovative and progressive approach within all engineering disciplines
  • Assures industry engineering leadership, including participating in industry associations, professional groups and standards development organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience, Competencies and Education

  • B.S. in Physics, Mechanical, Chemical or Structural Engineering
  • Five to ten years related management experience
  • Proven project management experience

  • Proven management/leadership skills
  • Excellent time management skills

POSITION PREREQUISITES:

  • B.S. in an engineering discipline

Customer Service Manager

  • College degree from accredited college or university
  • Five years’ customer service management or related experience

Programmer / Analyst

Strongwell, the world’s largest pultrusion company headquartered in Bristol, Virginia, is recruiting a Programmer/Analyst for its Bristol, Virginia manufacturing plant. Candidates should possess the following experience and education:

This position involves all aspects of software design, coding, debugging, deployment and support. Candidates should have strong MS-SQL server skills and 3+ years of software development experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Management

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 3+ years experience in software design, data base management and web based application development.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Proficient with object oriented programming fundamentals
  • Ability to design, develop and debug software applications
  • Ability to administer MS-SQL Server databases
  • Ability to analyze facts, identify problems and provide solutions
  • Ability to create detailed written instructions as well as documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and in a team environment

SPECIFIC SKILL SET:

  • Design and code new applications using Microsoft Visual Studio / .Net framework development
  • VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#
