Business Students Learn the Value Behind “Made in America”

On November 20th, 2012 over 15 business students along with faculty members from Virginia Intermont College visited Strongwell. These future entrepreneurs were invited by Strongwell to understand the roles of how business operations, technology, science, and marketing allowed Strongwell to remain the world’s leading fiber reinforced polymers pultruder.

During their visit, David Ring (Manager of Government Affairs), Meghan Carty (Pricing Manager), Terry Smith (Technical Sales Manager), and Te-kai Shu (Print and Social Media Specialist) illustrated the high strength, easy to install, non-corrosive, durability and nonconductive nature of FRP products vs. traditional materials. These students were also shown how the in house engineering, manufacturing and R&D capabilities of the company continually gives Strongwell the competitive versatility and market diversity as an American manufacturer in a globalized economy.

Strongwell has always been an eager advocate of promoting FRP and the importance of manufacturing within our local community to our future business leaders. Strongwell looks forward to mentoring and assisting our local partners on future endeavors. We would also like to thanks Clorisa Phillips (President and Professor of Public Service and Leadership), Leah Prater (Creative Director- VI) and David Hite (Assistant Business Professor) for coordinating and taking the time to visit us.
