Fabrication Coordinator / Scheduling Associate (Chatfield, MN)


Coordinate fabricated projects and assigned Custom orders. Perform clerical duties in Sales Department. Schedule, enter, expedite, and track orders. Follow up with customer when needed.


  • Coordinate structural fabrication jobs after order is received.
  • Maintain and update fabrication schedule.
  • Maintain and update all necessary custom schedules.
  • Interface with customer, keep customer informed of significant status changes.
  • Schedule production of orders through all necessary manufacturing departments.
  • Assist in planning the workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Monitor inventory levels; investigate and document any inventory discrepancies.
  • Assist in expediting operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Assist in improving scheduling efficiency through related problem solving.
  • Responsible for handling customer service calls as necessary.  Assist with order entry and shipping of custom orders as needed.
  • Maintain custom and fabrication files; send order acknowledgements, maintain open order files and invoices.
  • Responsible for all Return Material Authorizations.  Create, maintain, upgrade, and communicate with customer as to what, why, and how material is to be returned.
  • Responsible for credit requests.  Create, maintain, update, and communicate with customer if and when a credit will be issued.
  • Comply with company guidelines, rules, and procedures as contained in the Employee Handbook and miscellaneous memos.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience, Competencies and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations management, or technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of supply chain, manufacturing operations, and planning (e.g. production planning/scheduling, material requirement planning.)
  • Three years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with experience in production scheduling; experience scheduling fabrication work strongly preferred.
  • Must possess excellent time management skills, multitasking
  • Must possess strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning systems a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:  This position requires that the employee be able to perform the following physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Sedentary work; many hours of computer work per day
  • Minimal lifting

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  This position requires that the employee be able to work effectively in a work environment involving:
