Strongwell Power Poles Prove their Versatility

On July 17, 2012 one of Strongwell’s - manufactured power poles installed from 2000 to 2001 was struck by a box truck on Tennessee State Route 394 in Bristol, Tennessee. The accident instantaneously proved one of the benefits of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) poles. Although the power pole was damaged beyond repair; the driver was not seriously injured due to the pole’s impact absorption foam filled design which cannot be duplicated with traditional power pole materials. Since the initial installation of the FRP poles, three accidents have occurred all with similar outcomes.

FRP Power poles manufactured by Strongwell have higher strength-to-weight ratios, better impact absorption and durability, improved design and manufacturing flexibility, higher energy efficiency in production and safer environmental characteristics than traditional wood, concrete or steel power poles.
