Case Study: Fiberglass Tank Loading Platform Handles Corrosive Materials with Ease
This all-fiberglass tank loading platform fabricated of EXTREN® Series 625 has a cantilevered 3' x 6' walkway section at one end which lowers when workers step onto the platform to load and unload tanker cars carrying corrosive materials. The cantilevered section rises to an almost 90° vertical when there is no one on the platform.
Designed and fabricated by Strongwell, the 3' wide x 11-1/2' long x 13' high platform with stairs was shipped preassembled to Martin Marietta of Oak Ridge, Tennessee (U.S. Department of Energy Nuclear Fusion). Series 625 was specified here because the area where the platform will be used — a chemical transfer station — deals with a wide range of chemicals.
