Structural Shapes

EXTREN® fiberglass structural shapes and plate are lightweight, high strength, corrosion resistant, dimensionally stable, and low maintenance compared to traditional materials. EXTREN is produced and stocked in three different resin series and in more than 100 shapes and sizes for various applications and environments. All EXTREN shapes have a surfacing veil to increase corrosion and UV resistance and prevent fiber exposure while in service. FIBREBOLT® fiberglass studs and nuts are available to use with EXTREN as an alternative to metal fasteners in applications that must be strong, noncorrosive, low in conductivity and/or transparent to electromagnetic waves.

A custom pultrusion is a unique product manufactured to distinct customer specifications. With a choice of resin systems and reinforcing materials, they can be engineered to practically any constant cross-section. This composite design can be customized with excellent degrees of customer control.

Composite pultrusions engineered using resins as varied as polyesters, vinyl esters, epoxies, phenolics, urethanes, and blends, alongside reinforcements like fiberglass and carbon fiber, have been adopted at scale in a broad range of markets.

Pultruded & Molded Fiberglass Grating

Strongwell offers both pultruded grating (DURADEK® and DURAGRID®) and molded grating (DURAGRATE®). All Strongwell gratings are made exclusively in the U.S.A.

DURAGRATE molded grating is a premium-quality mesh grating panel that is chemical resistant, can be loaded bidirectionally (square mesh), is easy to fabricate and install, fire retardant, impact resistant, low maintenance, low conductivity, and uniform in appearance. Hotels and motels typically install DURAGRATE as trench grating, mechanical and maintenance access grating, green roof drainage panels, installed vertically as equipment screening, and more. Select DURAGRATE panels meet ADA requirements for both mesh size and slip resistance.

DURADEK and DURAGRID are high strength pultruded bar gratings. DURADEK is stocked and available in specific thicknesses, resin types, bearing bar shapes and spacings, and panel sizes. DURAGRID provides  the ability to customize these options to fit the needs of each application. For heavy wheel traffic such as fork lifts, tow motors, and truck traffic, Strongwell also makes DURAGRID HD heavy duty grating.
