Connecting with High School Career Development
Community in Schools recently partnered with Bristol Virginia Public Schools to host a career fair for more than 300 students at Virginia High School in Bristol, Virginia. The purpose of this event was to expose students to different industries, examine primary career paths, and pursue meaningful career plan development.
Overall, manufacturing was one of forty different industries represented there. Students were asked to visit multiple sectors and ask questions regarding career levels, typical work days, culture, products, and education required.
Strongwell utilized this opportunity to educate students on the products and services it produced at its facility only two miles away from the school. In addition, students were surprised by the numerous supplemental careers it took to support a global manufacturing company.
Strongwell also shared job applications with graduating seniors and encouraged senior class students to apply for the annual manufacturing scholarship sponsored by the Southwest Virginia Alliance for Manufacturing.
