Fiberglass Decking Doubles as Stay-In-Place Concrete Forms
A recent bridge project in Black River Falls, Wisconsin made interesting use of Strongwell’s SAFPLANK® decking. The contractor chose the FRP panels to serve as a concrete forming system.
The interlocking fiberglass panels were installed upside down and the concrete was poured directly on top of the panels. Unlike wood forms, the corrosion resistant and light weight SAFPLANK® did not have to be removed. There was also no need to form between the concrete girders. This saved the cost of labor to remove the forms and resulted in a faster installation.
