Manufacturing Panelists Discuss Industry Pathways

The Southwest Virginia Alliance for Manufacturing (SVAM) once again collaborated with King University’s Career Services Department to host an event called, “Manufacture Your Career”. The event is designed to allow students from across all disciplines to gain a better understanding of the career paths and opportunities within the manufacturing sector.

SVAM reached out to multiple manufacturers within its service footprint to serve as regional panelists representing Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. Strongwell, Hapco, Wolf Hills Fabricators, and Cardinal Glass Systems were this year’s participants for the forum panel.

As an alumna of King University, Brandon Crook (Corporate Sales Account Manager) shared his progressive career phases as he transitioned through the sectors of athletics, industrial sales, and manufacturing.
Around 80 students attended and discussed pay, safety, creativity, communication skills, and advancement opportunities.

Many thanks to Finley Green (Director of Career Services - King University) and William Carty (Program Assistant - SVAM) for this opportunity to promote manufacturing and talent development within our region.
