Strongwell Takes a Stake in Youth

bgclogowpphotosStrongwell was recently invited to become a corporate sponsor of the 21st annual Steak and Stake Dinner hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mountain Empire. This event is unique in its nature because it allows businesses and individuals alike to meet and greet the youth who have been encouraged by the club to strive to “BE GREAT.” Each year the venue is filled with laughter as adults and kids share adventures and reflect on the safe positive environment they are allowed to thrive in.

This year’s feature speaker was Jim Miller. Miller’s impressive background is comprised of a successful collegiate and professional basketball career, experience as a world-class magician and his current role, President of the Miller Financial Group.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mountain Empire is a nonprofit youth development agency which serves more than 1,500 children annually at five different locations within two counties while operating on an annual budget of $850,000.  It provides access to quality programming in the arts, characters and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, sports, fitness and recreation.  This year’s fundraising event showed promising annual growth as it brought in over $57,000.

Strongwell would like to thank the other major sponsors of the this event: Beckie Street, Marvin and Marcia Gilliam, First Bank and Trust Company, Friendship Family of Dealerships, Lopez Wealth Management, Food Country USA and Bristol Virginia Utilities for their continued dedication to allow the youth of today to “BE GREAT” tomorrow.
