Strongwell’s United Way’s Day of Caring
On June 20, 2014, Strongwell employees offered their time, expertise and products to fulfill Abuse Alternatives’ wish list by improving the exterior appearances of one of its facilities. Volunteers from Strongwell cleaned out mulch beds, trimmed and hedged bushes and installed new FRP raised beds while refurbishing a ramp surface with Strongwell EXTREN® product. The Bristol group included Jeff Chandler (Mechanical Engineer and Machinery Manager), Lisa Wilson (Payroll Administrator), Jami McFalls (Corporate Accountant), Ed Adams (Health, Safety, Environmental and Security Supervisor), Shannon Lambert (Master Mechanic), Rhonda Tucker (Inside Sales Manager) and Mellissa Harrison (Chief Estimator).
During the project, Abuse Alternatives gave a tour of its facility and explained the United Way-supported agency’s role within the community. Abuse Alternatives has been providing temporary emergency shelter and emotional support to abuse survivors and their children, a 24 week batterer intervention program, victim/court advocacy, and community outreach/education for almost 35 years to the residents of Bristol, Washington County (VA) and Upper Sullivan County (TN).
Thank you to Abuse Alternatives, the United Way of Bristol and Strongwell volunteers for supporting the progress of the community.
