Case Study: Fiberglass Buss Bar Cover Protects Visitors to Disney World
A buss bar cover manufactured by Strongwell encloses more than one mile of electrically operated monorail as a safety device to protect visitors at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The fiberglass enclosures are used to cover monorail buss bars that run over parking areas, roadways, and wherever buss bars pass through passenger stations.
To assure the safety of the huge number of visitors to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, the contractors and engineers at Morrison-Knudsen/American Bridge and Wheeler and Gray Engineers, sought a buss bar cover that would feature low conductivity, fire retardant and high strength.

The strength of the pultruded cover was proven in an incident after installation when high winds bent aluminum braces that held cover sections in place but left the pultruded fiberglass cover undamaged.
Each fiberglass cover section, which is manufactured in pieces 12.5' long x 8" wide and 1/8" thick, has a slightly curved 1050 angle shape with a 3/8" solid bulb shape along the top for added rigidity.
