Strongwell was recently presented with two notable annual awards from the Southwest Virginia Alliance for Manufacturing (SVAM). The Southwest Virginia Alliance for Manufacturing, Inc. is a non-profit organization which uses its voice to focus on supporting and strengthening manufacturers within a service footprint of seventeen jurisdictions.

In an effort to promote manufacturing, SVAM utilizes its platform to establish and promote regional collaboration of manufacturing, redefine the image of manufacturing for future generations, and to close the skills gap by aligning educational and workforce training resources to local manufacturing.

SVAM presented the Community Impact award this year to Strongwell. To earn this recognition, Strongwell “…had to demonstrate how a company creates and maintains positive outreach within its immediate community.” Strongwell decided to highlight its decades-old partnerships with local commerce groups, arts, civic service, and community outreach initiatives. In addition, Strongwell’s application also highlighted individual giving with its quarterly blood drives, activity fundraisers, monetary donations, and gifts-in-kind.

Within the educational realm, Strongwell recognized how employees became peer mentors while engaging in multiple platforms of career exposure opportunities with primary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions.

Strongwell also received SVAM’s Community Choice Award this year. This award was created by SVAM for community members to recognize a manufacturer for their direct community impact. A recent Strongwell intern and SVAM scholarship award winner, who recently attended one of SVAM’s symposiums, nominated Strongwell for this award. The nomination focused on the drafting intern’s experiential journey with Strongwell’s Fabrication Sales and Estimation group while being mentored by a previous SVAM Woman of the Year winner.
